FEBRUARY Feb 1: Clear nice day. Went from Indian Lake to Schenectady to see Sidney (son of R. B. Nichols) as he was sick. Paid my own bills. Miles 100.
Feb 2: Cold and wintry. After visiting with Sidney and staying with him all night and arranging for him to come home I returned to Indian Lake. Paid my own bills. Miles 100. Found out on this trip that a dog chased a deer across road near Newcomb. Sent Protector Barns there. Also found that dogs were running at IGERND [Igernia?]and sent Summerville and Barnes both to look it up.
Feb 3 Snowed a foot. Made Division report, wrote Protectors and traveled in woods a few hours on 17. Miles 10.
Feb 4: Snowed nearly a foot. Went into Corner Essex County to travel on 15 but it snowed so hard I came back. Miles all day 15.

March 6: Fair & warm. Attended a Masonic funeral of Willard IRCKS. It was a very nice day and a large attendance. Rev. Mr. Bryant took his text from the 14 Chapter & 14 Verse of Job. If a man die shall he live again and preached a very nice surmon which was appreciated by all. There was about 40 Masons in attendance and would of been more only the roads were bad and a good many in the woods.

April 6: Fair & warm. Went up Cedar river & return looking to see if any one fishing then went in woods in P.M. on Township 17 where parties had cut wood adjoining State land to see if they cut on state. Found everything all right. Miles 20.

April 17: Fair. Came from Indian Lake to North Creek with J. K. Ward. Found a fire on Lake 15, Essex County and 3 men on it. Then went to Patrolman Bibbys & reported to him & he took men and went there. Miles all day 30. Team paid by Ward. Postage 6 cents.
April 18: Rain hard all day. Came from North Creek to Warrensburgh & Lake George. Met Burnett in regard to case of Italian dog CHASING(?) deer. They agreed to settle & I came to Warrensburgh to meet Special Protector Fred E. Reymund. R. & Stage North Creek to Lake George and return to Warrensburgh $1.31.
