Generation No. 1

1.  PHILLIP R.¹ WADSWORTH  (DANIEL MARSH^A, JOSIAH^B, THOMAS^C, THOMAS^D, THOMAS^E, WILLIAM^F, WILLIAM^G) was born March 19, 1817 in Wells, Hamilton Co., NY, and died April 13, 1891 in Hope, Hamilton Co., NY. He married ABIGAIL (ABBA) M. WELLEN.  Wadsworth House' was built by Josiah Wadsworth Jr.  in 1853. Then prior to 1866 his cousin Philip left his blacksmithing at Griffin and bought the property. With Philip's death on April 13, 1891 at the age of 74, the property was acquired by William H. Wadsworth who operated it as a hotel from 1891 to 1908. Other buildings were added; "The Camp" and "The Coop" and became a summer boarding house from 1908 until 1931. The property, no longer run commerically, was owned for many years by Hugh Wadsworth. Burial: Wadsworth Cem., Hope, NY.

2.  JOHN A.² WADSWORTH (PHILLIP R.¹, DANIEL MARSH^A, JOSIAH^B, THOMAS^C, THOMAS^D, THOMAS^E, WILLIAM^F, WILLIAM^G) was born September 17, 1839 in Hope, Hamilton Co. NY, and died 1868.  He married MARY.

Military records National Archives:
Civil War, 115th Regiment Company K Volunteers. Wounded at Olustee, Florida during the Civil War. Died 1868. His cousin Daniel P. Wadsworth was also in the Civil War in Co. H. 142nd Reg.. as well as his brother-in-law Philip Monk listed below.

of CALEB CARPENTER and ADELINE KATHAN. Acquired Wadsworth Hotel and operated it from 1891 to 1908.
