The earliest Fountain that I have a source for is Benjamin Fountain who married Antje See. Benjamin was born 1780 in New York, possibly son of Stephen Fountain and Charity Carpenter. He died in Wells , Hamilton Co. 30 Apr 1831. He may be buried by the Methodist Church but there is no marker. His children were all born in Wells Town.

- 2. Elizabeth b. 1806 married Stephen Francisco in 1826 and died in Florence, Goodhue Co., Minnesota
- 3. David b 1809 mar. Elizabeth Slack and died 1900. He is buried in Wells by Methodist Church.
- 4. Charity b abt 1811 and m. James Hiler d. 1891 He went to Western New York
- 5. Mary "Polly" b. abt 1815 mar Richard Marshall
- 6. Levi b 1817 married Hariet Peters in 1898 and died in Vine Valley, Yates County, New York. His son, William served in the Civil War.
- 7. Ezra B. b. about 1822 mar. Seraphine LeClear. He may be buried in Penfield, New York.
- 8. Abram William b 1822 mar. Catherine Wheaton in 1844. He moved to Yates Co. for a short time before moving to Goodhue County, Minnesota with his family. His oldest son, Jacob, died in the Civil War serving from New York. His mother, Ann See, went to Goodhue, where she died at the age of 100.
- 9. Martin b. 1823 mar. Maria Kent and I have no information about him.
- 10. Aaron b abt 1826 and died before 1831
- 11. Joseph b about 1829 or 30 may have moved to Goodhue .
Benjamin was a blacksmith in Wells Township. He may have been one of the first blacksmiths there. He is on the 1810 census. Stephen had 5 children, Benjamin Bradley, Rhoda, David C., Charles A., Daniel Bradford. Most of this family moved to other states. Elizabeth had a son Oliver P. He lived his entire life in Goodhue Co., MN David S. stayed in New York and is buried in Wells. Levi became a vinyardist, had 3 children and is buried in Overackers Cemetery in Yates County. Abram had 9 children. He was my great grandfather. He and his mother, Antje See, are buried in Wacouta Cemetery, Goodhue Co., Minnesota. Abram died 10 Feb 1889.
