Fountain Family of Wells

The earliest Fountain that I have a source for is Benjamin Fountain who married Antje See.  Benjamin was born 1780 in New York, possibly son of Stephen Fountain and Charity Carpenter.  He died in Wells , Hamilton Co. 30 Apr 1831.  He may be buried by the Methodist Church but there is no marker.  His children were all born in Wells Town.

Benjamin was a blacksmith in Wells Township.  He may have been one of the first blacksmiths there.  He is on the 1810 census.  Stephen had 5 children, Benjamin Bradley, Rhoda, David C., Charles A., Daniel Bradford.  Most of this family moved to other states. Elizabeth had a son Oliver P. He lived his entire life in Goodhue Co., MN  David S. stayed in New York and is buried in Wells.  Levi became a vinyardist, had 3 children and is buried in Overackers Cemetery in Yates County.  Abram had 9 children. He was my great grandfather. He and his mother, Antje See, are buried in Wacouta Cemetery, Goodhue Co., Minnesota. Abram died 10 Feb 1889.
