World War II Draftees

The following are the lists of men published in the Hamilton County Record, Wells, N.Y. in 1941 for Local Board 392 in Lake Pleasant of those drafted to be inducted into the armed forces. Along with those drafted is a list of replacements in case the original inductees were found to be unfit and not taken by the armed forces. They would be given 5 days notice prior to reporting if they should be needed.

First Draftee Taken

Beecher Fish went to Albany on Wednesday of last week where he passed his physical examination with flying colors and was sent on to camp on Thursday. He is the first draftee to be taken from Indian Lake although there have been a number of volunteers since last September. The firemen gave a party for Mr. Fish at Jones Hotel on the eve of his departure.

Selectees Given Farewell Party

Hamilton County Men Are Guests of Red Cross

Speculator - A group of Hamilton county boys who were inducted in the United States Army Monday morning were guests of the Lake Pleasant Chapter of the American Red Cross Sunday afternoon and evening at the Firemen's hall.

Games were played and refreshments were served by Mrs. Clyde elliott, Mrs. Carl Earley and Mrs. Stella King assisted by Miss Helen Brooks and Miss Almeda Clouthier.

The boys present were Elmer House, Raquette lake; John Fish, Dan Eldridge, Harrison Hall, Francis Hunt, Indian Lake; Walter Guilbert, George Morrison, Francis Page, Speculator; Sanford Parslow, Lake Pleasant; George Lewis, Hoffmeister, and James Frasier, Morehouseville.
