Any place names that have an approximate year reference in ( ) at the end of the description, I have found on maps for these years.  Refer to Maps page and History page for further information about the various townships listed herein.
 

Alvord - probably in the town of Lake Pleasant.  Looks to be located near where Gilmantown was/is.  See 1902 map on this site.
Antlers - located in the town of Long Lake.
Arietta (town of) - formed from Lake Pleasant, 13 May 1836.
Arietta - located within the southern part of the town of Arietta, near the county border, along Rt 10.
Arrow Head - located in the town of Inlet.
Averys Place / Avery Place - located in the town of Arietta along Rt 10 about 1/3 the way up (going north) from the county border to Rt 8.

Bartonville - located within the town of Arietta
Bassett - located in the town of Indian Lake, on the northwest corner of Utowana Lake.  See the 1895 map on this site.  This was likely a hotel, lodge or camp location at this time.
Beacher - located in the town of Inlet.
Beacher Camp - located in the town of Inlet.
Benson (town of) - formed from Hope and Mayfield (Fulton Co.), 6 Apr 1860.
Benson - located within the town of Benson on the Northville Lake Placid Trail about 1/2 the way between Rt 30 and Upper Benson.
Benson Center - Appears to be the same as what is now labeled as Upper Benson on my current map. (1860 & 1895)
Bethunesville - was located within the town of Morehouse (no longer exists). This hamlet was located 1 mile south of Morehouseville along what is now rt 8 (south side of the location of the old catholic church).  History books circa 1860, state that this was a failed settlement attempt.
Blackridge / Black Bridge - located within the town of Wells, along West River Rd, between Wells and Whitehouse.
Blue Mountain Lake - located within the town of Indian Lake at the northeastern juncture of Rt 28 and Rt 30 (also a juncture with 28N)
Bog Lake Station - located in the town of Long Lake.
Brandon - located within the town of Lake Pleasant
Brandreth - listed on government pages as a current post office location - on a current map, it appears to be located just over the county line in Herkimer county near the NE inlet of Stillwater Reservoir.
Brandreth Lake - located in the town of Long Lake.
Brightside - located in the town of Long Lake.  Listed on government pages as a current post office location.  Brightside was a lodge at Raquette Lake operated by the Bryere family ca. 1890s-1920.

Cargo Lake - located in the town of Arietta.
Catlin - located in the town of Long Lake.
Cedar River - located in the town of Indian Lake.
Clockmill Corners - located about 1/2 the way from the county line on Powley Rd. to Rt 10.

Deerland - located within the town of Long Lake, originally called Grove (changed in 1903), located on the south-east side of Long Lake along Rt 28N and Rt 30.
Deerland Camp - located within the town of Long Lake on Little Forked Lake
Durant - most likely located within the town of Long Lake.  See the 1902 map on this site.

Eagle Bay - on the county border with Herkimer county near Inlet.
Eagle's Nest - is this the same as Eagle Nest, located on the NW shore of Eagle Lake, near Blue Mountain Lake or (more likely) the hotel Eagle's Nest, located near the county line in/near Eagle Bay?  See the 1895 map for the Eagle Nest location.  This was likely a hotel, lodge or camp location at this time.

Faraway - located within the town of Long Lake
Forest House - located a couple miles east of Lake Durant [1903 and 1954 USGS Blue Mountain quadrangle maps]

Gilman - located within the (now abolished) town of Gilman (circa 1860)
Gilman (town of) - formed from Wells, April 23, 1839. A part was annexed to Wells in 1858. It was absolved on 6 Apr 1860!
Gilmantown - located within the town of Wells, north of the hamlet of Wells along Gilmantown Rd.
Griffin - located north of Wells, 300 people lived there in 1880, but is now a wilderness.  My map shows the location to be along rt 8 about 1/2 the way between the junction with rt 30 and the county line.
Grove - located on the east side of Long Lake in the town of Long Lake.  The name was changed to Deerland in 1903, by A. D. Brown.
Grove House - located in the town of Long Lake.

Hasbroucks / Hasbrooks - located within the town of Long Lake at the end of North Point Rd which leaves RT 28N / 30 at Deerland.
Hathorn - located in Lake Pleasant on the southeast shore of Raquette Lake.  See the 1895 map on this site.  This was likely a lodge or camp location at this time.  This was likely a hotel, lodge or camp location at this time.
Hess Inn - located in the town of Inlet.
Higgins Bay - located on the SE side of Piseco Lake near the junction of Rt 10 and Rt 8 (along Rt 8) in the town of Arietta.
Hoffmeister - located within the town of Morehouse.  This hamlet is a bit north of the hamlet of Morehouse along rt 8.
Hope - located within the town of Hope.  The hamlet is listed on current maps as along Rt. 30 at the junction with Creek Rd., which leads to Hope Falls.  See also Hope Center.
Hope Center - located within the town of Hope (circa 1860).  On an 1856 and 1860 map this looks to be at the same location as what is later considered to be Hope on an 1875 map and current maps.  However, on the 1856 map there is also a hamlet called Hope that is near what is now the junction of Hope Falls road and the short road connecting to route 30 (going east-west).  Hope Falls is not on this map and this hamlet of Hope is not on later maps.
Hope Falls - located within the town of Hope, located at the end of Creek Rd., off of Rt 30 at the hamlet of Hope.
Hope (town of) - formed from Wells, 15 Apr 1818 and part of Lake Pleasant annexed 10 May 1847.

Indian Lake - located within the town of Indian Lake at the southeastern juncture of Rt 28 and Rt 30.
Indian Lake (town of) - formed from Johnstown, Fulton county, 26 May 1812 (before the existance of Hamilton county)
Inlet - located within the town of Inlet along Rt 28, near the county border.
Inlet (town of) - formed in 1901 from the northern part of the town of Morehouse.
Irondequoit Club - located in the town of Inlet.
Island House - located in the town of Long Lake

Jackson - located in the town of Indian Lake a bit west of the village/hamlet of Indian Lake.  See the 1895 map on this site.

Keepawa - located in the town of Long Lake.  See the 1902 map on this site.
Kellogg - located in the town of Long Lake a little north of the village/hamlet of Long Lake.  See the 1895 map on this site.  This was likely a hotel, lodge or camp location at this time.
Kenwell - located in the town of Inlet.

Lake Pleasant - located in the town of Lake Pleasant.  There is an interesting confusion in the names of what is now Lake Pleasant and Speculator.  Before 1840, these two localities were called Lake Pleasant and Newton's Corners, where Lake Pleasant is where the county courthouse now stands.  Sometime after 1840, Lake Pleasant changed its name to Sageville and Newton's Corners took on the name of Lake Pleasant.  To make matters worse, about 1894, Sageville was changed back to Lake Pleasant, to retain this name to the present and what was Newton's Corners and then Lake Pleasant changed back to Newton Corners (without the 's) for 2 yrs and then finally changed to Speculator!  In various references of the 1800s, I have seen the county seat refered to as Sageville or Lake Pleasant, apparently interchangeably.
Lake Pleasant (town of) - formed form Johnstown, (Fulton co.), May 26, 1812. Parts of Stafford, Johnstown, and Salisbury were annexed at the time of the formation of Hamilton co. Morehouse was taken off in 1835, Arietta in 1836, and a part of Long Lake in 1837. A part was annexed to Hope in 1847, a part to Wells in 1858, and a part to Indian Lake in 1861.
Long Lake - located within the town of Long Lake at the juncture of Rt 28N and Rt 30.
Long Lake (town of) - formed from Arietta, Lake Pleasant, Morehouse and Wells, 4 May 1837
Long Lake West - located in the town of Long Lake
Long Lake West Station - located in the town of Long Lake

Morehouse - located within the town of Morehouse.  A hamlet a bit south of Hoffmeister along rt 8.  These two hamlets are essentially at the same location.  Morehouse was once called Morehouseville.
Morehouse (town of) - formed from Lake Pleasant, 13 Apr 1835
Morehouseville - located within the town of Morehouse.  Now typically refered to as Morehouse.
Mountain Home - located within the town of Morehouse at the end of Mountain Home Rd., off of Rt 8.

Ne-Ha-Sa-Ne / Nehasane - was located in the town of Long Lake.
Nehasane Station - located in the town of Long Lake.
Newton's Corners - see Lake Pleasant.
North River - on the county border with Essex, Warren and Hamilton counties.  This community was part of Warren county in 1902, according the the 1902 map on this site.
Northville - located within Fulton county, but has very close ties to the residents of the town of Hope and Benson.  It is just south of the county border on the NE shore of Great Sacandaga Lake.

Partlow - town of Long Lake
Perkins Clearing - located within the town of Lake Pleasant, about 1/2 the way along Jessup River Rd which leaves Rt 30, a few miles north of Rt 30 and loops back to meet up with Rt 30 again a few miles further north.
Peter Island Camp - town of Inlet
Pickleville - located 1/2 mi. above Wells in the town of Wells (circa 1860)
Piseco - located within the town of Arietta. Originally designated as the county seat, but when Hamilton county was finally separated from Fulton county the county seat was installed in Sageville (now Lake Pleasant).
Piseco Valley Place - located in the town of Arietta.
Powley Place - located within the town of Arietta along Prowley Rd about 1/3 the way up (going north) along Prowley Rd from the county border to Rt 10.
Pulpwood Rock - located in the town of Long Lake.
Pumpkin Hollow - located in the town of Wells, a few miles south of the hamlet of Wells, along Rt 30.

Raquette Lake - located within the town of Long Lake along Rt 28.
Raquette Lake Station - located in the town of Long Lake.
Robinwood - located in the town of Long Lake
Rocky Point - located in the town of Long Lake
Rudeston - located on the NE side of Piseco Lake in the town of Arietta, just southeast of the hamlet of Piseco.

Sabael - located within the town of Indian Lake along Rt 30 on the NW shore of Indian Lake.
Sabattis - located within the town of Long Lake near the northern border of the county at the end of Sabattis Rd, off of Circle Rd, off of Rt 30.
Sacandaga Camp - located within the town of Lake Pleasant, along Rt 8 on the NW shore of Lake Pleasant about 1/2 the way between Lake Pleasant and Speculator.
Sagamore - located within the town of Long Lake
Sageville - see Lake Pleasant.
Seventh Lake Hotel - located in the town of Inlet.
Shaker Place - located in the town of Arietta at the end of Shaker Rd, off of Rt 10.
Sled Harbor - located within the town of Lake Pleasant, on a road which leaves Jessup River Rd at Perkins Clearing.
Speculator  - located within the town of Lake Pleasant
Spy Lake - located in the town of Arietta.

Tarnesda - probably locate within the town of Morehouse.  See 1902 map on this site.
Towahloondah - was located within the town of Indian Lake.  This was a small hamlet located about 1/2 mile NE along what is now route 30 from Blue Mountain Lake (the lake itself) [1903 USGS quadrangle map].

Uncas - located in the town of Long Lake.
Uncas Road - located in the town of Inlet.
Upper Benson - located within the town of Benson near the county border north of the juncture of Northville Lake Placid Trail and Rt 125.

Wells - located within the town of Wells
Wells (town of) - formed from Mayfield and Northampton, both of Fulton county, 28 May 1805 (before Hamilton county existed)
Whitehouse / White House - located within the town of Wells at the end of West River Rd, off of Rt 30.
Whitney Headquarters - located within the town of Long Lake, on Sabattis Rd, which is off of Circle Rd, off of Rt 30.
Wilderness Lodge - located within the town of Indian Lake
Windfall - located in the town of Wells, at the end of Windfall Rd., off of Rt 30 near Wells.
Woods - located within the town of Long Lake along North Point Rd, near Hasbroucks.
