Accidently killed on the railroad at Chicago while a Union soldier in the Civil War on 11 November 1862 age 34 years (Ref ancestry.com records Feb 2000) He enlisted on 11 August 1862 at Amsterdam N.Y. and was a private in "D" Company 115th Infantry Regiment of New York . Age give on enlistment given as 34.

He may be buried in the Green Hill Cemetery Town of Amsterdam. (Ref #19A) or the G/S may be a memorial Stone

4.5.4.1.1 Nelson S. Dodds mentioned in Cornelius will (Ref # 1C) and Sarah's will. Residence unknown in 1849 and of Idaho in 1895 (Ref #1E). He was described in 1895 as a grandson of Sarah and son of the deceased Sylvanus N. Dodds (Ref #1E)
4.5.4.1.2 William O. Dodds born 11 February 1859 (Ref #28) in the Town of Amsterdam He was mentioned in Sarah's will in 1895 (Ref #1E). He was described in 1895 as a grandson of Sarah and a son of the deceased Sylvanus N. Dodds (Ref #1E). He died at Amsterdam on 6 September 1936 (Ref #28) He married at Amsterdam to Ella House on 31 December 1884 at Amsterdam. She was born 7 August 1862 and died 31 March 1932 at Amsterdam (Ref #28)
William's Children

Mabel Dodds who married Alfred B. McClumpha. Mabel made application for membership in the DAR about 1940 and at the time was living at 56 Church Street Amsterdam. She claimed descent from Bartholomew Dods with proof for Adjutant General of New Jersey under date of 25 March 1940. (Ref #28)

1. Catherine Milroy on 31 December 1863 at Presbyterian Church Amsterdam (Ref #19D) (Ref #24) she was the daughter of John E. Milroy and Ann M. Haswell and was born 15 July 1847 and baptized 25 April 1858 at First Dutch Reform Church of Glenville (Ref #24). Catherine Milroy wife of Cornelius died 4 September 1870 age 23 years 1 month and 19 days, buried Dods Cemetery (Ref #18)
2. Harriet (Hattie) G. Thayer in Springfield Otsego County on 14 November 1871 (Ref #24). Harriet was born 1 July 1848 and died 3 May 1894 (Ref #18) and is also buried in Dods Cemetery.

Cornelius lived on a farm in 1878 which had been owned by his grandfather on the Cranesville Road (Ref History of Montgomery County)
William Dodds of Broadalbin Fulton County who died in 1986 was a grandson of Cornelius and Mary Jane Dodds of Guilderland N.Y. is a great grand daughter.
