	ii.	FRED GROFF, b. 1871, Hope, Hamilton Co., NY; d. January 1, 1896, Hope, New York. He drowned while crossing the Sacandaga River in a wagon. His sister Ella Groff Buyce was standing on the banks with her son Raymond in her arms and saw it happen.
